Terms of use
Short on purpose. These terms cover what we provide, what we do not promise, and what remains your responsibility. There is nothing here about subscriptions, seats or termination, because there is nothing to subscribe to and no account to terminate.
By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple: do not use the tools. Nothing has been created in your name that would need unwinding.
Clause one
What we provide, and on what basis
MyPDFiles provides a collection of document tools that execute inside your web browser. They are offered free of charge, with no account, no trial period and no paid tier. There is no contract for a service level, because we are not charging for one.
The tools are provided as they are, and may change. Tools may be added, improved, altered in behaviour, or withdrawn — usually because a better approach was found, occasionally because a browser capability changed underneath them. We do not undertake to keep any particular tool available indefinitely, and there is no obligation on us to continue operating the site at all.
Availability is not guaranteed. The site may be unreachable for maintenance, because of a hosting failure, or for no reason we can identify. Free provision without an uptime promise is the honest description of what this is.
Clause two
No warranty. Check the output before you rely on it.
The tools are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any tool is free of defects, that it will handle every document correctly, or that its output will be suitable for your purpose.
PDF is a large and frequently mis-implemented format. Real documents arrive with corrupt cross-reference tables, unusual encodings, exotic encryption, malformed fonts and structures no specification anticipated. Some will fail here, and a few will produce output that is technically valid but not what you wanted.
- Your originals are safe
- Every tool writes a new file. Your input file is read, never overwritten.
- Your obligation
- Open the result and check it before discarding the original or sending it on.
Clause three
Your documents remain entirely your responsibility
Because your files never reach us, we have no ability to intervene in what you do with them — and no ability to recover anything for you. You are responsible for keeping your own copies, for checking your own output, and for the consequences of using it.
You are also responsible for having the right to process each document you open here. By using a tool you confirm that you own the document or are otherwise permitted to modify it, and that doing so breaches no copyright, licence, contractual restriction, confidentiality obligation or applicable law binding you. We cannot assess that, because we cannot see the file.
Where a document contains other people’s personal data, you remain the party responsible for it under whatever data protection regime applies to you. Processing locally helps with that responsibility considerably — no third party gains custody — but it does not transfer it to us.
Clause four
No guarantee of legal or regulatory fitness
This clause exists because three specific tool categories invite an assumption we cannot support, and it is better to disappoint you here than after you have filed something.
Electronic signatures
Signing is not available in this release. Inspecting signature fields does not validate an existing signature, its certificate or its legal effect. These tools do not produce a qualified or advanced electronic signature or certify compliance with eIDAS, ESIGN, UETA or any comparable framework. Use appropriate signing and validation software, and take advice where the stakes justify it.
Accessibility and PDF/A checks
Automated checking is a useful first pass and nothing more. It can flag a missing document language, absent alternative text or untagged content, but it cannot judge whether a description is genuinely useful or whether reading order makes sense to a person. A passing result is not a conformance claim under WCAG, PDF/UA, Section 508 or the European Accessibility Act, and a formal claim requires human review.
Redaction and content removal
Where a tool removes content rather than merely covering it, verify the result yourself before releasing the document. Treat any redaction as unconfirmed until you have searched the output for the text you expected to be gone, and inspected it with a second tool if the disclosure is consequential.
Clause five
Acceptable use
We cannot technically enforce most of this, since we never see your files. It is stated because it is the agreement under which the tools are offered.
No unlawful content
Do not use these tools to process material that is illegal to possess or distribute where you are.
No defeating others’ protections
Do not use them to strip, bypass or work around protection on a document you are not authorised to modify. Removing a password you legitimately hold is a different matter entirely.
No forgery
Do not use these tools to fabricate a signature, misrepresent authorship, or falsify the provenance of a document.
No interference
Do not attempt to attack, overload or probe the site’s infrastructure, or to circumvent its security headers and validation limits.
No automated bulk use
Do not script or scrape the site for bulk automated processing. Use it as heavily as you like in a normal browser session.
No passing it off
Do not republish the site or present it as your own service. The tools are free for you to use, not to resell as yours.
Clause six
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising out of your use of this site or these tools. That includes lost profit, lost business, lost or corrupted data, missed deadlines, wasted effort, and any loss resulting from a document that was processed incorrectly or relied upon without being checked.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site — which is nothing. We state that plainly rather than burying it: this is free software running on your own machine, and the trade for that is that the risk of relying on its output sits with you.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you. Consumer rights that apply to you as a matter of law are unaffected by anything written here.
Clause seven
Changes, and the rest of the small print
These terms may be revised. When they are, the effective date at the top of this page changes, and the revised version applies to use of the site from that point. Continuing to use the tools after a change indicates acceptance of it; there is no notification mechanism, because there is no mailing list and no account to notify.
If any provision here is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply. Our not enforcing a provision on one occasion does not waive it. These terms, together with the privacy policy and the cookies page, are the whole of the arrangement between us regarding your use of this site.
Questions about any of this can go to hello@mypdfiles.com — without an attached document, please.

Questions about the terms
Can I use these tools for commercial work?
Yes. There is no separate commercial licence, no seat count and no restriction on using the output in paid work. Because processing happens on your device, your employer’s confidentiality rules are generally easier to satisfy here than with an upload-based service — though you should still confirm that for yourself against your own policies.
Do you accept liability if a tool damages a document?
No, and the practical mitigation matters more than the clause: every tool writes a new file rather than modifying your original, so your input remains untouched on disk. Keep that original until you have opened and checked the output. For anything important, verify the result before relying on it.
Can these tools create or validate a legally binding signature?
No signing tool is available in this release. Inspection can report signature fields, but it does not validate a certificate, trust chain or legal effect. Whether a signature is binding depends on your jurisdiction, document and receiving party. Use a suitable signing or validation service and seek advice where necessary.
Can I rely on the accessibility checker for compliance?
Treat it as a helpful first pass, never as a certificate. Automated checking can find missing document language, absent alternative text or untagged structure, but a meaningful share of accessibility criteria require human judgement about whether a description is actually useful. Formal conformance claims need a human review.
May I scrape the site or wrap it in my own product?
Please do not automate bulk requests against the site or republish it as your own service. Using the tools normally in a browser — as heavily as you personally need — is entirely welcome, including all day, every day, on as many files as your device can handle.
