Convert From PDF

Get content out of a PDF and into a format you can edit.

Converting out of PDF means rendering pages or extracting their content. These converters work from page drawings or positioned text runs rather than recovering the original editable document. Image conversion rasterises the page at the chosen resolution, and JPEG encoding can introduce loss. Text extraction reconstructs reading order and whitespace from positioned text runs, so columns and unusual layouts may need correction. Word conversion reconstructs paragraphs and optional headings from that text rather than preserving the original visual layout. Excel spreadsheet reconstruction is not offered by the published converters. Choose the output for the task and review the result rather than assuming every conversion is exact.

About convert from PDF

Which PDF conversions are exact?

None should be treated as an exact copy of every aspect of the PDF. Image conversion renders the page at a chosen resolution, and JPEG output can lose detail. Text extraction reads the text layer but reconstructs reading order and spacing. Word output reconstructs paragraphs and headings rather than the original page layout; it does not preserve table grids or images. Excel conversion is not offered here.

Why is there no text in my extracted output?

The PDF is most likely a scan — a picture of a page with no text layer. Run it through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then extract.
