About delete PDF pages

Deleting pages builds a new PDF from the pages you keep, in their existing order. The output is rebuilt rather than edited byte-for-byte, and resources or other objects referenced by kept pages can still be copied, even if they contain material from a removed page. This is page removal, not guaranteed secure redaction. Page positions change: delete page 3 of a ten-page file and the old page 4 becomes page 3, but numbers printed within the page content do not change. Selections are resolved against the original numbering in a single pass, so “delete 3, 4, 5” removes those three original pages. Kept page content streams are copied without re-encoding, so existing searchable text and image compression are preserved.

How to delete PDF pages

  1. 01

    Load the document

Drop in the PDF. Page numbers refer to positions in this original file.

  2. 02

    List the pages to remove

Enter numbers and ranges such as 1, 3, 10-12. All numbering is relative to the file as loaded.

  3. 03

    Delete

Press the action button. The kept pages are copied into a new document on your device.

  4. 04

    Download the result

Save the trimmed PDF. The original on your disk is unchanged.

What this tool does

  • Selections resolved against the original page numbers, so no renumbering surprises mid-operation
  • Ranges and individual pages can be mixed in one expression
  • Kept pages are copied losslessly — no re-compression of text or images
  • Builds a new PDF from the kept pages; the file may not get smaller
  • Refuses to delete every page, so you cannot produce an invalid empty PDF

Limitations worth knowing

Every PDF tool has constraints. Stating them plainly is more useful than discovering them halfway through your work.

  • Document-level bookmarks are not transferred to the new PDF, including bookmarks to pages you keep.
  • Internal links are copied without retargeting or validating their destinations; links to removed pages may not work.
  • Deleting pages does not remove text from a page you keep — for that you need a redaction or editing tool.
  • A document cannot be reduced to zero pages; at least one page must remain.

How your file is handled

This tool runs entirely inside this browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and hands the bytes to JavaScript running on this page — no network request carries your document anywhere. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and run the tool. You will see no upload.

Nothing is stored after the fact. Closing or reloading this tab discards the file, the result and everything derived from them, because none of it ever left your machine. Read how local processing works.

Questions about delete PDF pages

Do page numbers shift while pages are being deleted?

No. Your whole selection is resolved against the original numbering first, then the surviving pages are copied. “Delete 3, 4, 5” removes exactly those three original pages.

Can I recover a page I deleted by mistake?

Your original file is untouched on disk, so simply run the tool again with a corrected selection. The download is a separate new document.

Does deleting a page remove its content from the file completely?

The page is omitted from the output page list, but this is not guaranteed secure redaction. Kept pages can still reference content or resources associated with a removed page, and those objects can be copied into the output. Use a dedicated redaction and sanitization workflow for sensitive material.

Why is the file barely smaller after deleting pages?

If the deleted pages shared fonts and images with pages you kept, those resources must stay. Text-heavy pages carry little unique data, so removing them saves little.
