About convert PDF to landscape
Orientation is the visible consequence of two things: the page's media box, which gives its width and height, and its /Rotate value, which turns the displayed result. A page can therefore read as landscape either because it is genuinely wider than it is tall or because a tall page has been rotated a quarter turn. This tool takes the rotation route without re-rendering page content: it inspects each page's effective orientation and writes a quarter-turn only to pages currently presenting as portrait, leaving true landscape pages alone. The whole file is still loaded and saved, so time and memory use depend on the document and device. That selectivity is the whole point — blanket rotation would flip a report's existing charts onto their sides. Content does not reflow or change size; text and drawings turn sideways with the page instead of being rearranged to fit a wider layout. When you need a genuinely different paper geometry rather than a turn, PDF Page Size Changer is the right tool.

What this tool does
- Detects effective orientation per page, so already-landscape pages are skipped
- Lossless: achieved by writing /Rotate, not by re-rendering pages
- Optional page scope for converting only part of a document
- Result is consistent in every viewer, not just the one you saved from
Limitations worth knowing
Every PDF tool has constraints. Stating them plainly is more useful than discovering them halfway through your work.
- Content does not reflow or change size: text and drawings turn sideways with the page rather than being rearranged to fit a wider layout.
- The media box is unchanged, so tools reading raw page dimensions still see the original width and height, which may differ from the displayed orientation.
- Exactly square pages are left unchanged. Near-square pages that present as portrait are still turned 90 degrees, including their content.
- This does not resize paper; for A4 landscape geometry use PDF Page Size Changer.
How your file is handled
This tool runs entirely inside this browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and hands the bytes to JavaScript running on this page — no network request carries your document anywhere. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and run the tool. You will see no upload.
Nothing is stored after the fact. Closing or reloading this tab discards the file, the result and everything derived from them, because none of it ever left your machine. Read how local processing works.
Questions about convert PDF to landscape
Will pages that are already landscape be rotated too?
No. Each page's effective orientation is evaluated first and only portrait-presenting pages are turned, so a mixed report does not end up with its charts on their sides.
Does the text reflow to fit the wider page?
No. PDF content is positioned absolutely, not reflowed like a web page. Rotation changes presentation only, which suits tables and drawings more than body text.
Is this the same as changing the page size to A4 landscape?
No. This turns the existing page; page-size conversion builds pages with new dimensions and fits the content onto them. Use PDF Page Size Changer when the paper geometry itself must change.
