About reverse PDF pages
Reversal is the one reordering job with no decisions in it, which is why it deserves its own page rather than a session of dragging thumbnails. The cause is almost always mechanical: a sheet-feed scanner that took the stack face-down, a fax-style device that emitted pages bottom-up, or a batch assembled from a list sorted the wrong way. The fix creates a new PDF and copies the pages and their referenced resources from last to first, without rasterising pages or re-compressing images. A 400-page document can therefore be reversed without reducing page-content quality, but the result is a rebuilt file and document-level bookmarks are not copied. Two things do not reverse with the pages. Printed page numbers are part of each page's content stream, so a reversed document counts downward until you stamp a new sequence. And rotation is stored per page in its /Rotate entry, so sideways scans stay sideways — reversal changes sequence only, never orientation.
How to reverse PDF pages
- 01
Add the backwards PDF
Drop in the document that came out in reverse order.
- 02
Reverse it
Press the action button — there is nothing to configure, the whole page list is flipped.
- 03
Check the ends
Download and open the file, then confirm the new first page is what used to be last.
What this tool does
- Single-action reversal of an entire document within the configured file-size and page-count limits
- No page rasterisation or image re-compression; reversing again restores the original page order
- Handles mixed page sizes and orientations without normalising anything
- Works within the configured file-size and page-count limits shown on the Security page, subject to available browser memory
Limitations worth knowing
Every PDF tool has constraints. Stating them plainly is more useful than discovering them halfway through your work.
- Printed page numbers baked into the pages now run backwards; re-stamp them with Add Page Numbers if that matters.
- Page rotation is untouched — a stack scanned upside down also needs Rotate PDF.
- Document-level bookmarks are not copied into the output, because it is a new document built from copied pages.
How your file is handled
This tool runs entirely inside this browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and hands the bytes to JavaScript running on this page — no network request carries your document anywhere. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and run the tool. You will see no upload.
Nothing is stored after the fact. Closing or reloading this tab discards the file, the result and everything derived from them, because none of it ever left your machine. Read how local processing works.
Questions about reverse PDF pages
My scan is both reversed and upside down. Can this fix both?
Reversal only changes sequence. Orientation is a separate per-page /Rotate value, so run Rotate PDF at 180 degrees as well — order does not matter between the two.
Will the printed page numbers be corrected?
No, they are drawn into the page content and travel with their page, so the reversed file counts down. Add Page Numbers can overprint a correct ascending sequence.
Can I reverse only part of a document?
Extract the section first, reverse it, then merge it back with the untouched parts. Reversal here always applies to the whole page list.
