About move PDF pages

Moving is reordering with less typing. Because any page you do not mention keeps its original relative position at the end of the sequence, you can relocate a page or a contiguous block by naming only the part you care about. Listing 7-9 brings those three pages to the front and lets 1-6 and 10 onwards fall in behind them, in order. To drop a page into the middle instead, name the pages that should precede it and then the page itself: 1-3, 7 gives you pages 1, 2, 3, 7, then 4, 5, 6, 8 and so on. Blocks stay contiguous and keep their internal order, so a moved section arrives intact. Underneath, a new PDF is built by copying the pages and their referenced resources into the requested sequence. Pages are not rasterised and images are not re-compressed, so page-content quality is preserved, but the file is rebuilt and document-level bookmarks are not copied.

How to move PDF pages

  1. 01

    Load your document

Drop in the PDF containing the misplaced page or section.

  2. 02

    Name what moves

Type the page or contiguous block to relocate, such as 7-9. Blocks keep their internal order.

  3. 03

    Position it

To move a block to the front, list it alone. To place it mid-document, list the pages that come before it first — 1-3, 7 puts page 7 after page 3.

  4. 04

    Apply and download

Press the action button and save the rearranged file.

What this tool does

  • Relocate a single page or a contiguous block in one operation
  • Unlisted pages close the gap automatically — no need to enumerate the document
  • Block moves preserve internal sequence
  • Lossless: page objects are copied, not re-rendered

Limitations worth knowing

Every PDF tool has constraints. Stating them plainly is more useful than discovering them halfway through your work.

  • Moving a block to the middle means listing the pages that precede it as well, because position is expressed as a sequence rather than a destination number.
  • Only contiguous blocks keep their order implicitly; scattered pages must each be listed where you want them.
  • Printed page numbers and in-text page references do not update.

How your file is handled

This tool runs entirely inside this browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and hands the bytes to JavaScript running on this page — no network request carries your document anywhere. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and run the tool. You will see no upload.

Nothing is stored after the fact. Closing or reloading this tab discards the file, the result and everything derived from them, because none of it ever left your machine. Read how local processing works.

Questions about move PDF pages

How do I move a page to the middle rather than the front?

List the pages that should come before it, then the page itself. In a ten-page file, 1-3, 7 produces 1, 2, 3, 7, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 — page 7 now sits fourth.

Do I have to type out the whole document?

No. Anything you leave out is appended in its original relative order, so naming just the pages you are moving is enough.

Does moving a block keep its order?

Yes. Pages 7-9 moved to the front arrive as 7, 8, 9 in that sequence. If you want them reversed, run Reverse PDF Pages on an extract instead.
